The Royal Borough of Kingston has now signed contracts with Solar Services to provide solar water heating to residential care homes. The systems are used to provide hot water without the associated pollution of burning conventional fossil fuels. Hot water use in care homes is constant and therefore a large part of the boroughs energy bill.

Due to the high temperatures produced at the tap by the system, a limiter is fitted to protect the residents from possible scolding. There are a number of commercial applications for solar water heating and the company is happy to talk through any ideas for current or future projects.
