| The Abbeyfield Guildford Society has now signed contracts with Solar Services to provide solar water heating to its ‘Roundhay’ residential care home. The system is used to provide hot water without the associated pollution of burning conventional fossil fuels. Hot water use in care homes is constant and therefore a large part of the boroughs energy bill. Due to the high temperatures produced at the tap by the system, a limiter is fitted to protect the residents from possible scolding. There are a number of commercial applications for solar water heating and the company is happy to talk through any ideas for current or future projects.
Established in Bournemouth in 1981, Solar Services specialises in Solar Heating, Heat Pumps and Rainwater Harvesting. Previous contracts include Ford Motor Company, Department of Social Security, The National Trust and Her Majesty’s Armed Forces Bases. |
